On August 5, 2025 the United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) participated in the Alexandria Police Department's National Night Out at our flagship Bertie H. Bowman Building, catching evening commuters on their way home and drawing neighbors from the surrounding area.
National Night Out (NNO) was founded in 1984 in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA as "an annual community-building campaign to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, and more caring places to live." (natw.org/about/) NNO is designed to increase crime prevention awareness and USSFCU did our part by educating our neighbors about the risks of scams, fraud, and identity theft while additionally promoting our core values of financial security and safety that our membership services provide.
We had a fun-filled event with ice cream, yard games and fun quizzes, safety focused giveaways, and jamming music with a turnout of over 100 neighbors and look forward to many more community engagement and educational events.
