Throughout July, United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) teamed up with Communities in Schools® (CIS) of NOVA to collect backpack donations to support local students in need to start their school year off strong.
Across our three drop-off locations at the Bowman, Hart, and GAO branches we received nearly 40 generously donated new backpacks and USSFCU packed each bag received with additional credit union donated school supplies of pencil cases, notepads, and folders filled with youth financial education information and resources. On August 12 we dropped off two filled bins of backpacks along with 100 additional pencil cases and box of notepads to the CIS of NOVA headquarters.
Thank you to all of our staff and community members who contributed to this project with their personal donations. These gifts of school supplies will truly make a difference in the lives of our youth across the Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax areas.
